At the beginning of June, the community of Agua Escondida in La Libertad received a visit from 16 members of its sister community, Bellarmine College Prepratory, located in California.
Bellarmine decided to establish a sister community relationship with Agua Escondida in 2000. The group first visited El Salvador in 1993 and to date maintain a close relationship with our country. The group visits El Salvador every year. They especially look forward to visiting their sister community of Agua Escondida. This year, the delegation spent June 3 to 5 sharing and spending time with members of the community.
First, the delegation enjoyed a dinner that the community had prepared. Then the Bellarmine students were distributed among a number of families to spend the night.
Over the next two days the young people from the delegation participated in various activities in the community, which allowed them to interact extensively with the residents of Agua Escondida and the children at the “Monsignor Romero” Children's Development Center.
The students affirmed that the direct contact that they had with their sister community helped them to get to know the reality in which the majority of Salvadoran families live.
The members of the Bellarmine delegation said that they felt proud to have maintained this sister community relationship since 2000.
